2024 Urban School inaugural conference

The Urban School is pleased and honored to welcome Sharon Dijksma, Mayor of Utrecht (Netherlands) for the 2024 inaugural conference. 

Sharon Dijksma, born April 16, 1971, is a Dutch politician affiliated with the Labour Party (PvdA). She has served as the mayor of Utrecht since December 17, 2020. Her political career spans various roles, including State Secretary for Education, Culture and Science, Secretary for Economic Affairs, and Minister for the Environment. As mayor of Utrecht, she focuses on urban governance with a strong emphasis on sustainability, mobility, and housing.

Under her leadership, Utrecht aims to enhance its green infrastructure, promote sustainable transport options like cycling and public transit, and address the housing shortage through innovative urban planning. Sharon Dijksma is committed to making Utrecht a more inclusive, resilient, and environmentally friendly city, aligning with broader national and European climate goals.
