The Latest IPCC Report on Climate Mitigation: a Discussion with PSIA Experts

Three faculty members at Sciences Po’s Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) will discuss some key implications of the latest IPCC report, which provides an updated global assessment of climate change mitigation progress and pledges, and examines the sources of global emissions.
Guest speakers:
- Scott Barrett, Lenfest-Earth Institute Professor of Natural Resource Economics, Columbia University.
Scott Barrett is a leading scholar on transnational and global challenges, ranging from climate change to disease eradication. His research focuses on how institutions like customary law and treaties can be used to promote international cooperation. He has advised a number of international organizations, including the United Nations, the World Bank, the OECD, the European Commission, and the International Task Force on Global Public Goods. He was previously a lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and a member of the Academic Panel to the Department of Environment in the UK.
He teaches the course “Climate Change Policy and Diplomacy” in the Spring 2022 at PSIA-Sciences Po.
- Yamina Saheb, Lead author, IPCC ; Senior Climate and Energy Policy Analyst.
Dr. Yamina SAHEB is Senior Energy Policy Analyst at OpenExp, a lead author of the IPCC WGIII 6th assessment report on climate mitigation and a lecturer at PSIA-Sciences Po on climate risks. Prior to this position, Yamina was the Head of Energy Efficiency Unit at the International Energy Charter. She also worked as a Policy and Scientific Officer at the Renewables and Energy Efficiency Unit at the Institute of Energy and Transport of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission (EC). Before joining the JRC, Yamina worked as Senior Energy Policy Analyst at the International Energy Agency (IEA).
Yamina holds a Ph.D in Energy Engineering, Master’s degrees on Landscape Architecture and Development Economics and an Engineering degree in Building technologies.
She teaches the course “Global Warming: Identification and Mitigation of Climate Risks” in the Spring 2022 at PSIA-Sciences Po.
- Laetitia Sieffert, Programme Management Officer on biodiversity and health, Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, United Nations Environment Programme.
Laetitia works as Programme Management Officer on biodiversity and health at the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme in Montreal. She has 10-year professional experience in external relations and programme management roles with the UN system and international organizations. She most recently worked with Unitaid – a global health innovation agency hosted by the World Health Organization in Geneva, GROUPE SOS – a social entrepreneurship group – in Mumbai, and UNOPS’ office in Washington DC. A dual citizen of France and Switzerland, Laetitia holds a master’s in public affairs from Sciences Po.
She co-teaches the course “Health and Planetary Boundaries: Addressing the Challenge in an Urban World” in the Spring 2022 at PSIA-Sciences Po.
