A Kuwait Program Distinguished Lecture on “Sovereign Wealth Funds. National Interest, Development and the Global Financial Crisis“
With
ZEckart WOERT, KSP Visiting Professor at PSIA-Sciences Po and Senior Researcher at the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB)
Discussed by
Javier CAPAPE, Coordinator of ESADEgeo Sovereign Wealth Fund Report
Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs) have entered the financial and political vocabulary against the backdrop of global imbalances that have become tenuous since the global financial crisis of 2008. What are the development goals of such funds that are mainly held by oil exporters and Asian manufacturing nations? Which investment strategies do they follow and how do they differ from one another? This lecture takes a look at case studies and tries to give answers.
