Science & Politics of the Planet: Agrochemicals and the Anthropocene

About this event

21 March 2022 from 18:30 until 20:00

Although many scientific studies underline the negative impacts of the excessive use of pesticides on soil fertility, biodiversity and human health, it remains difficult for agriculture to manage to do without them. Research has been mobilized both to help with this transition and to develop alternatives
Dr. Christian Huyghe, Scientific Director of Agriculture at l’Institut national de recherche pour l’agriculture, l’alimentation et l’environnement (INRAE), will be interviewed by a group of students on the scientific and technical challenges to achieving efficient and sustainable agriculture. He will discuss the pathways towards reducing dependency of pesticides in agriculture.
Moderation by Dr. Sebastien Treyer, Executive Director of IDDRI, and a group of students from the class Science and the Politics of the Planet, Sciences Po’s School of Public Affairs.
