Three PSIA students scooped three of the four inaugural AIRE Student Research CarbuncleAwards for their Master thesis. The awards were launched by the Interdisciplinary Workshop on Environmental Researchers [AIRE] to acknowledge and disseminate the best environmental research.

Mira Kovacova is co-founder of the Centre de Formation et d'Action Contre le Faim (CFAF) in Kinshasa, DRC. CFAF aims to address the silent hunger crisis in urban areas of the country. The DRC has attracted over 1 billion dollars in private-public partnerships.

Hélène Le Brun has graduated in Environmental Policy. She is an Associate Project Officer at UNESCO in Paris. Her role is to support the work of the MAB Secretariat.

Aurea Santos has graduated in the one-year Master in Advanced Global Studies. She is Senior Content & Public Relations Strategist at the Rotary International in Brazil.

Mindie Bernard is a Researcher at Inclusive Development International in Accra, Ghana. She investigates companies, governments, and banks that own and fund projects that cause human rights violations. She also trains civil society actors in Africa, South America, and southeast Asia.

Andreas Holzinger is Director for Francophone West Africa Innovations for Poverty Action in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. He graduated in International Development with a Dual Degree with the Freie University of Berlin.

Lukas Drammeh is a Junior Advisor at the Deutsche Gesellchaft für InternationalZusammenarbeit (GIZ), Ethiopia and Djibouti. He works at GIZ (German Development cooperation agency) in the “SIMPI’s Migration Policy Implementation” project.

Beatrice Juskaite has Graduated in Human Rights & Humanitarian Action. Coming from Lithuania, she is DPhil (PhD) student in Migration Studies at the University of Oxford.

The fifth edition of the Paris Peace Forum took place in 2022. The Forum focused on preventing a destructive world polarization. It also explored how to mitigate the multiple shocks and socio-economic aftermath of the crises.

Mikael Maerker has graduated in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action. He is Protection Delegate for the International Committee of the Red                Cross (ICRC) in Erbil, Iraq.

The European Centre for International Political Economy is a think tank based in Brussels, Belgium. It conducts research on a variety of issues, including trade, the environment and the economy.

Bora Kim is a Junior Policy Analyst at the OECD Directorate for Science, Technology and                Innovation in Paris. Her main responsibilities include research / analysis, drafting andcommunication activities.

Aliénor Cameron has graduated in International Economic Policy. She is a PhD student at the Climate Economics Chair at EconomiX in Paris, France. Her role is to produce research and share this knowledge through publications.

The Independent Task Force on Creative Climate Action shared its report with G-20 Summit leaders, meeting in Bali on 15-16 November 2022. The report is an invitation to a deeper dialogue on the issues of enlightened self-interest, its opportunities and its challenges.

PSIA is calling on students to support and take part in the eighth edition of the Youth & Leaders Summit, to be held in-person, on 16 January 2023. Thereare many opportunities for students to participate in various roles. Read the description of the seven roles below.

Valentina Lana has graduated in the one-year Master in Advanced GlobalStudies. Coming from Italy, she is fellow at the Marshall Memorial Fellowship. Lana will receive a six-month training on transatlantic relations.

Aleksandra Szylkiewicz is Geopolitical Intelligence & Travel Security Manager at Paris-based luxury group Kering. She joined Kering’s Security Department in 2020 after working 2.5 years with the Global Risk Analysis team.

Sylvana Lewin is Associate Porject Officer at UNESCO in Paris, France. Her work focuses on intercultural dialogue projects and conflict prevention. Lewin has graduated from the Master in International Public Management.

Andres Aponte Novoa is a consultant and auditor at Synergy Global Consulting in Paris. He advises clients in fragile contexts on audit and supply chain due diligence.

Jayasurya Kalakkal has graduated in Environmental Policy. She is an Environment and Trade Consultant at the UN Environment Program in Geneva.

Mariia Melnyk is a Gas Analyst at the Upstream Gas Infrastructure Department at the French Regulatory Commission (CRE) in Le Havre. Her daily tasks range from the interaction with gas market players and data collection to the preparation of CRE’s decisions.

Dilek Gürsel is Programme Manager in the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation, Beirut, Lebanon. Her role includes designing activities in the frame of regional peace, security and migration.

Iliana Flores has graduated in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action. She works as a Consultant for IOM’s Migrant Protection Division. Her main role is to contribute to knowledge management.
