Preparing your arrival for the University Programme

Travel Plans: When to Arrive

Each student is responsible for securing their own transportation to and from Paris. Approximately one month before your arrival, you will receive detailed information regarding transportation to and from the Paris airports, as well as useful information regarding your stay.
The Summer School also organises pre-arrival webinars with a live Q1A session for registered students. Dates will be announced early 2024.

Visa

Check the visa requirements for your country for a short-term stay in France. Students from some countries will be able to attend the Summer School as tourists and as such will not need a visa, while others may be required to obtain a short-term student visa. Please note that it may take longer to obtain a visa in some countries, so be sure to apply early.

Upon receipt of your tuition payment, you will be issued a Summer School admissions letter. This letter may be used in your visa application as proof of study for your stay in France. Please refer to the individual country regulations on your local French consulate website or on the France Visas website.

Health Insurance

Foreign nationals staying less than three months in France are not eligible for French health insurance. We strongly recommend that you subscribe to a comprehensive health insurance policy for the duration of your stay.

Stay in Touch

The Summer School team will provide regular communication regarding your arrival, orientation, and preparation for courses. Please check the email address used during your application regularly for updates regarding the programme!

Housing

As Paris is hosting the 2024 Olympic Games, and due to the influx of international athletes and delegations arriving in Paris next Summer, group housing is exceptionally unavailable through most traditional providers. However, students will be able to secure housing individually if they book their room early. The Summer School team will be available to support housing searches as soon as admissions open.

You can find a list of housing options, including Sciences Po-certified options, on our Accommodation page

Please note that we highly recommend students find housing options as soon as possible. Housing is in high demand next summer and prices will rise as the Olympic Games get closer.
We recommend securing housing as soon as you have been accepted into the programme and paid the deposit reserving your spot.
