In June 2026, the 52nd G7 Summit will take place in Évian-les-Bains, hosted by President Emmanuel Macron of France. Thirty-seven years after the historic 1989 Paris Summit, the meeting arrives at a moment of profound transformation and fragmentation in the international order.

From the war between Russia and Ukraine to intensifying strategic competition with China, from the weakening of the World Trade Organization framework to the growing influence of actors such as the BRICS, multilateral governance is facing increasing pressure. At the same time, technological supremacy, especially in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, is becoming a central arena of global power competition.

This panel discussion will explore international security, strategic technologies, and shifting economic balances in the run-up to the 2026 Summit, reflecting on what these dynamics mean for the future of multilateral cooperation and what can realistically be expected from negotiations in Évian.

Join us for an intriguing panel discussion on geopolitics, technology, and the future of global cooperation, featuring:

  • Andreas Schaal : Director of Global Relations and Co-operation at the OECD and OECD Sherpa to the G20, G7 and APEC
  • Stéphanie Balme : Director of the Center for International Studies (CERI - Sciences Po/CNRS) and Research Professor at Sciences Po, specialising in science diplomacy and China-EU-US relations
  • Clément Bacchi : Policy Officer at the AI Office of the European Commission and Professor of International Governance of Artificial Intelligence at Sciences P
  • Emmanuelle Bautista : Deputy Head of Unit for the International Financial System and Summits Preparation (G7/G20) at the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty
