What is OSINT, and why should you care?
Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) is the practice of gathering and analyzing information from publicly available sources—ranging from social media, official reports, public databases, and satellite imagery, to leaked or unsecured documents and data.
OSINT has become an essential technique in investigative journalism. Renowned organizations like Bellingcat, as well as traditional media such as Le Monde, increasingly rely on OSINT methods to fact-check information, uncover hard-to-access fields, and reveal hidden truths. Beyond journalism, OSINT plays a major role in cybersecurity—particularly in Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI)—but also is widely used in intelligence related jobs, NGOs, law enforcement, and even public policy.
Having even a basic understanding of OSINT can be a valuable asset in your future career, while also raising awareness about what kind of personal information might be publicly accessible about you online.
Join us for an introductory OSINT workshop, where Marina, a member of our association and a professional CTI analyst, will guide you through the tools she uses daily. You’ll also take part in a hands-on challenge to apply what you’ve learned to a real-world case.
