Martin HENDEL

Assistant Professor at ESIEE Paris and member of Laboratoire de recherche Interdisciplinaire des Energies de Demain (LIED)

Codirector of The Environmental Policies Research Group of LIEPP

Bio :

Martin Hendel is a researcher at the engineering school ESIEE Paris. He teaches thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, life cycle analysis and renewable energy production at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He is a researcher in the Climate and Energy in Urban Environments (CEMU) team of the Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire des Energies de Demain (LIED) at Universié de Paris.

His research focuses on adaptation to climate change in cities, particularly to heat waves. He has been working closely with the City of Paris since his PhD thesis on the efficiency of cooling with non-drinking water during heat waves. Since his thesis, his work focuses on the thermal behavior of road surfaces under heat wave conditions and on decision support at the scale of a territory (global urban cooling strategy) or a development project (design of a cool island).
