The key figures of research at Sciences Po
Between 2011 and 2021, Sciences Po's budget devoted to research increased by 41% from 53 to 75 million euros. Stably, research represents a third of Sciences Po's budget.
The French National Research Agency is the main donor of public funds, allocated according to competitive calls for projects. An identical process applies to the allocation of European funds, in particular via the European Research Council (ERC). In addition, many research projects are the subject of contracts with national or local public institutions, associations, etc.
Amount and Origin of Contractual Resources from 2018 to 2021 (€ millions euros)
At the start of the 2021-2022 academic year, Sciences Po's permanent faculty has 274 members. If political science remains largely dominant, other disciplines have a growing share.
Evolution and feminisation of the permanent faculty
In 2021, women represented a third of the permanent faculty. While this result is still far from parity, there were more women compared to 2019: from 86 to 90. After increasing, their share within the permanent faculty has plateaued over the past two years.
