Pierre, Consultant, Inetum Consulting

Pierre Karam has graduated in International Development. Coming from Lebanon, he is Consultant at Inetum Consulting, a European leader supporting organizations as they navigate continuous technological change.

What are your main responsibilities?

My role involves a lot of teamwork, offering the opportunity to develop a broad set of management skills while developing an in-depth understanding of technological evolutions in the private and public sectors. My role varies depending on our clients’ needs and the nature of each project.

Some examples include translating clients’ strategic objectives into actionable plans, organizing workshops, gathering and consolidating data, and transforming insights into coherent messages presented through decks, metrics, or dashboards. I also coordinate large project teams brought together to achieve a common goal (my last project involved more than 30 stakeholders).

The work requires adaptability and a strong understanding of each client’s context. Many projects involve spending months embedded in client teams, which makes interpersonal and communication skills essential.

How did you prepare for this job?

My preparation combined classic consulting interview preparation with active networking, especially by reaching out to Sciences Po alumni on LinkedIn.

What ultimately made the difference was learning to capitalize on my differences. Coming from a Master’s in International Development with a specialization in Global Risks and Europe, and with previous experience in film and TV production, I was able to offer a distinctive perspective. The team at Inetum appreciated this background, as it brought a fresh way of approaching challenges.

What is the most fascinating part of your job?

What I find most fascinating is the ability to translate major trends, such as rapid developments in AI or evolving EU regulations, into concrete strategies that address organizational, human, and financial challenges.

I also enjoy the variety of internal projects we lead in collaboration with other teams: developing training programs on sectoral and technological trends, responding to tenders, or designing new offerings that leverage cross-team synergies across the firm (e.g. Data/AI & CIO offer for the Public Sector, IT M&A offer…).

How did your PSIA experience contribute to the position you hold today?

I entered consulting through my third-semester internship during my Masters, which later led to a full-time position.

Looking back, my PSIA experience was truly foundational. The program allows for deep specialization in a topic while exposing students to an exceptional diversity of courses taught by leading experts. Sciences Po’s real strength lies in this balance: the ability to develop expertise while maintaining a broad understanding of how different fields interact and evolve within a global context.

What advice would you give to current students?

Take full advantage of Sciences Po’s wide course offering, stay curious, both about ideas and the people around you, and don’t hesitate to step out of your comfort zone. Topics that may initially seem unrelated often reveal surprising synergies. Embracing interdisciplinarity fosters resilience, which is essential in a world that is changing fast. You never know where the next opportunity will come from.
