One thing that helped me was learning to prioritise and plan ahead. PSIA can be demanding, especially when several deadlines, group projects and events overlap, so being realistic about where to invest my time and energy was important. I'd also like to emphasise the value of recognising the exceptional people around you at PSIA. My classmates brought very different perspectives, and being open to their ideas, whether in or outside of class, consistently pushed me to think more critically and improve my own work.

For a career in international development, I think the most useful parts of my experience were the practical elements: project management courses, frequent presentations and pitching exercises, and the constant experience of working in groups. These are all closely connected to the reality of working in the sector. Just as importantly, connecting with professors and leading practitioners has been instrumental in helping me think more clearly about my own path. People at PSIA are often remarkably generous with their time, experience and guidance.

PSIA can be intense. Try to pace yourself and remember that slowing down at times is not falling behind. The people you meet are a huge part of the experience, so give yourself the time to get to know them properly. Make time for friendships, conversations beyond the classroom, extracurricular activities and events organised by PSIA. Some of the most valuable parts of PSIA happen alongside the coursework, not only within it.
