Celebrating the first cohort of CARE Climate Leaders

On 9 June, the CARE consortium celebrated the successful completion of the 2025-2026 edition of the CARE Climate Leadership Program, with a certificate ceremony held at Sciences Po in Paris. A small group of graduates was on site but the event recognised the achievements of all 54 students who completed the program across CARE’s four partner universities.

Designed as a flexible, extracurricular certificate, the CARE Climate Leadership Program equips graduate students with the knowledge, skills and networks needed to engage with climate challenges in professional contexts. Combining self-paced online learning with live webinars and collaborative applied activities, the program encourages participants to explore climate action through multiple lenses, including systems thinking, governance, justice, finance, communication and Indigenous leadership.

Throughout the year, students interacted with leading academics and practitioners from around the world, exchanged perspectives across disciplines and countries, and applied their learning through hands-on exercises such as the Policy Lab and the Mock Global Council. Beyond acquiring new knowledge, participants joined a growing international community committed to advancing equitable and evidence-based climate action.

The ceremony marked an important milestone for the program, which recently received the 2026 APSIA Award for Innovation in Professional Development Programming, recognising its interdisciplinary and practice-oriented approach to climate education.

Congratulations to all of this year’s graduates - we look forward to seeing where your climate leadership journey takes you next.
