Berk, Strategy Analyst, Technip Energies

Berk Çapuklaş has graduated in International Economic Policy, where he focused on how global markets and policy shape sustainable economic development. Coming from Turkey , he works as a Strategy Analyst at Technip Energies in Paris, contributing to the company’s energy-transition strategy.

What are your main responsibilities?

As a Strategy Analyst, I work on a wide range of topics tied to Technip Energies’ long-term positioning in the energy transition. My day-to-day work includes conducting market and competitive analyses to understand where the industry is heading, what key energy trends are emerging, and how they shape our strategic outlook. I collaborate closely with colleagues from engineering, finance, sustainability, and business development on cross-cutting projects and help translate strategic insights into actionable initiatives.

The role requires navigating complex information, viewing issues from different angles, and connecting the dots between energy economics, energy policy, and engineering. This is precisely where my master’s training proves invaluable.

How did you prepare for this job?

I first learned about this position through a Sciences Po alumna who worked as an Equity Research Analyst and covered Technip Energies. Speaking with her gave me a clearer picture of the company, its strategy, and the skills needed to succeed in this field.

I also relied on Sciences Po and PSIA's career resources, including sector events and regular conversations with alumni working in strategy, energy, and consulting. These exchanges helped me refine my positioning and understand how to articulate my fit for a strategic role.

My internships and project-based coursework strengthened my research, analytical, and teamwork skills—competencies that form the backbone of my work today.

What is the most fascinating part of your job?

What I enjoy most is being at the crossroads of economics, technology, and global change. There are many opportunities to make meaningful strategic recommendations, and my role gives me the freedom to propose initiatives and anticipate how the energy landscape might evolve.

I also value the diversity of backgrounds within the company—from engineers to financial analysts to sustainability experts. Working with such a wide range of people continuously broadens my perspective and strengthens my ability to approach challenges from multiple angles.

How did your PSIA experience contribute to the position you hold today?

The International Economic Policy programme’s emphasis on applying economic perspectives to real-world questions made a clear difference during my interviews and continues to shape how I approach my work today.

The programme provided a solid grounding in international policy, which is incredibly useful when analysing market dynamics and regulatory shifts. Many courses were applied and hands-on, helping me learn how to break down complex issues and communicate them clearly.

My third semester and applied coursework allowed me to specialise in topics closely linked to sustainability, strategy, and energy policy, making my transition into the energy sector both natural and smooth.

What advice would you give to current students?

Make full use of Sciences Po’s alumni network. It is one of the institution’s greatest strengths. Many great minds have passed through Sciences Po, and connecting with them can open unexpected doors and provide valuable guidance.

Stay open and flexible. Careers—especially in energy and strategy—rarely follow a straight line, and that’s part of the journey. Diverse backgrounds bring distinct strengths, and embracing that diversity is ultimately what makes teams and organisations succeed.
