Caroline, 2022 Summa Cum Laude in International Economic Policy

dir="ltr">Coming from Germany, Caroline Mícek has graduated Summa Cum Laude in International Economic Policy.

What skills and/or strategy helped you to succeed at PSIA?

For me personally, the main skill was good organization. This included writing down every single deadline as soon as it was announced into a spreadsheet – which I ordered chronologically, also including information on which percentage of the final grade of a course this particular assignment was worth. Then, I prioritized the assignments accordingly. Moreover, I think that balance was incredibly important, i.e., still taking the time to meet friends and enjoy life in Paris, even when the stress levels at university were high.

What part of your PSIA experience do you think will be of greatest help in your career?

I benefited a lot from having been encouraged to express my opinion in relation to many different subjects, some quite new to me, during the courses. My professors were always good at facilitating discussions. Though ultimately, the many amazing and inspiring people I met (students, faculty, visiting guests) will most probably be the biggest asset.

What advice would you give to current and future PSIA students?

To future students I would say to choose your concentration(s) wisely (as you will take quite a lot of courses from them), and to also see how they align with the mandatory courses from your master’s. You might end up having more courses in common with some students from your concentrations, than those from your master’s. Current students I can only encourage to enjoy the experience! Attend some of the interesting events that are organized, but also hang out with your fellow students outside of class, and explore the city. In this way, try to make the most of Sciences Po, your peers, and Paris.
