Anithasree, Senior Associate, Global Vaccines Delivery at the Clinton Health Access Initiative

Anithasree Athiyaman has graduated> in International Development, with concentrations in Global Health & Human Rights and Humanitarian Action. Coming from India, she is Senior Associate, Global Vaccines Delivery at the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), in Cambodia.

What is your role and main responsibilities?

In my current role, I support the design and implementation of CHAI vaccines strategy to introduce and strengthen program performance for new vaccines such as Rotavirus, Pneumococcal, COVID-19 vaccines across program countries in Southeast Asia and the Pacific region.

How did you secure this role?

After graduation from Sciences Po, I interned at Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. During which, I applied, went through a competitive recruitment process and was selected as an Analyst (junior, entry level position) to join CHAI's country office in Lao PDR. 4 years since joining CHAI, I have gradually grown in my roles and responsibility to reach my current position.

What is the most fascinating and/or surprising aspect of your role?

The opportunity to engage with kind and diverse stakeholders (across the Ministry of Health in countries and partners), who are committed to improving lives through access to immunization and other essential healthcare services.

How did your PSIA experience help you with the role?

Through courses taught by practitioners and the exclusive Semester 3 internship, PSIA provided me with valuable knowledge and practical experience to understand, effectively navigate and engage with complexities in the development sector. The specialization courses provided the foundational knowledge to explore (even advanced) topics in global health.

What advice would you give to others?

To be brave, confident and believe in yourself: you can and will make a difference.
