Join us for an inspiring fireside chat with Lea Ypi, Professor of Politics and Philosophy at the LSE, an award winning writer, and one of the world’s leading thinkers.

In a discussion chaired by PSIA Dean Arancha González, she will explore the themes of indignity and historical injustice.

Biography:

Lea Ypi is professor in Politics and Philosophy at the LSE, a permanent fellow of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin and an Honorary Professor in Philosophy at the Australian National University. Amongst her many awards and honours, Ypi was named one of the world's top ten thinkers in 2022 by the British magazine Prospect, and one of the six most important thinkers of 2023 by El País. A native of Albania, Ypi specializes in Marxism and critical theory. She has written about the flaws and shortcomings of the capitalist system, in works such as Class Borders: Inequality, Migration, and Citizenship in the Capitalist State, an essay from 2018. In her first book, Free: Coming of Age at the End of History (2021), she delved into her childhood memories, in order to tell her story in a novel-essay that has been translated into more than 30 languages. The reactions to that book contained the seeds of Indignity: A Life Reimagined (2025).
