The scoping review
"The scoping review" or "mapping review" is a more recent approach. Its objective is to take a rapid stock of knowledge on a subject (scientific research and/or other types of literature). [The exploratory literature review remains above all a work of identification research, essentially descriptive in nature, with broader inclusion criteria than a systematic review.

The systematic literature review
"A systematic review attempts to collate all empirical evidence that fits pre-specified eligibility criteria in order to answer a specific research question. It uses explicit, systematic methods that are selected with a view to minimizing bias, thus providing more reliable findings from which conclusions can be drawn and decisions made" (Antman 1992, Oxman 1993)
