Apprenticeship programme - Master Regional and Urban Strategy

The students apply for the program at the end of the first year of the Master's degree.

The program of the apprenticed Master's degree in Regional and Urban Strategy is integrated into the teachings of the second year of Master's degree.

Year 1: the fundamentals

Students have two semesters of courses on the fundamentals of urban studies, modes of governance and regions in France and Europe:

  • The first semester consists of core courses on urban governance, public policies and regions in the European Union, urban history, urban sociology and local government law. Methodological workshops on mapping, statistical survey methods and qualitative surveys complete the picture.
  • The second semester is organised around major legal and economic issues (urban law, urban and regional economics) and the analysis of specific topics (health, lifestyles, risk, etc), along with training in local public finances and management.

Throughout the year, students work on a practical, professionally-focused group project.

Year 2: apprenticeship contract

The students make two semesters in alternation between the school and their employer.

The beginning of the apprenticeship contract is possible from June with the following pace:

  • Third semester: September to December: 3 days at Sciences Po, 2 days with the employer.
  • Fourth semester: January to May: 3 days with the employer, 2 days at Sciences Po.

Exclusive of the course periods, apprentices work full-time with the employer.

This program is proposed in partnership with the CFA Formasup (FR).
