The students of the Master Regional and Urban Strategy are going to discover, from 9 till 12 October, the metropolis of Montpellier, the surrounding municipalities and the urban area of Sète.
A central point for us is the development of the metropolis of Montpellier, original and innovative, so much point of view economic as demographic, but also the interaction within Montpellier3M between city center and municipalities of the metropolis, between the metropolis and the neighbouring associations of local authorities.
We wished, to understand the city better, to question also the dynamics of mid-sized cities, by choosing Sète to work on the levers of his development and its joint with the various scales of territory.
The transversality of several themes, transition energetics, risk management, mobility, culture, wine-making or tertiary economic development, social inequalities does it incite territories to cooperate between them? The search for the attractiveness, the competitiveness is it a factor of tension between them? In a period when the questions of cooperation/alliance/contracts territorial but also of differentiation are on the agenda, we hope to be better able to understand it and analyze their dimensions.
We deeply thank all the persons who helped us go up this study trip as well as the numerous mobilized and available speakers, who so allow the students to understand the stakes in their territories.
