Champaka Rajagopal, new affiliated professor with the Urban School!

an international renowned Indian urban planner, DR. CHAMPAKA RAJAGOPAL, is our new affiliate professor. Meeting with the new asset of the Urban School.

Dr. Champaka Rajagopal has worked on numerous urban renewal, transportation projects and plans in major Indian metropolises, as well as in Macau, Shanghai, in various cities in the United States and in regions in Sri Lanka, Libya, Vietnam and Indonesia. She has worked as an urban planner and project manager for infrastructure companies, public authorities, the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank.

She studied architecture at CEPT University in Ahmedabad, Urban Design at the University of California in Berkeley and recently obtained a PhD in Urban Planning and International Development at the University of Amsterdam. She created and leads "Open to TRANSITION Network". She is visiting faculty at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, where she is the Law and Policy Hub >coordinator, focused on experiential learning on the ground.

Since 2014, Dr. Champaka has taught at the Urban School a course on the politics of urban planning and governance related to digital issues and ownership in the master Governing the Large Metropolis. In September 2021, she gave the Urban School inaugural lecture in duo with Emmanuelle Cosse.

As an affiliated professor, Dr. Champaka Rajagopal will strengthen the School’s networks and work on urban development policies, planning and comparative urban projects, particularly in South-East Asia. She will also help the School to enlarge its relations with public, private and university partners, to develop the offer of internships and jobs for our students and to develop life-long learning projects.
