Ghazala Azmat is missed immensely by the profession and by her colleagues and students whom she inspired and supported. On December 10th economists from across the continent and overseas will gather at Sciences Po to pay tribute to Ghazala's remarkable contributions to economics.
Our humblest thanks to the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) for their invaluable assistance in helping bring this meeting together in the framework of its 2025 Paris Symposium. We also gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF).

Overview :
This event reflects Ghazala Azmat's contributions to research, notably in CEPR programme areas to which she belonged, her commitment to supporting women in economics, and her teaching.
- One research session dedicated to her research on Gender Inequality with a focus on female representation in academics, notably in economics;
- Two research sessions related to Labour Economics;
- A final research session on the Economics of Education;
- Presentation of the first Ghazala Azmat Award to the best paper by a junior researcher in Ghazala's fields of interest, spanning the economics of discrimination, gender, education and organisational economics
Coffee and lunch will be offered on site, next to the conference venue.
