LEPI launches new webinar series

On December 7th the Law and Economics Policy Initiative (LEPI) is launching a new webinar series.

The LEPI - created this year - is an interdisciplinary initiative involving the Department of Economics (co-founders: Roberto GALBIATI, Emeric HENRY) and the Law School at Sciences Po (co-founders: Katja LANGENBUCHER, Horatia MUIR WATT, Dina WAKED).

The discipline of law and economics, and its focus on the emergence of laws, on judicial decision making and on how laws structure economic activity, is experiencing a rapid shift due to the rise of big data, of large web based giants and of new challenges raised by climate change and increasing inequality. Such a shift raises numerous questions.

The LEPI will be a forum and will stimulate and disseminate research in this field.

Thomas Piketty and Katharina Pistor
The inaugural session of the LEPI’s webinar series will focus on law and equality.

Guest speakers will be Thomas PIKETTY (Professor of Economics, EHESS and PSE) and Katharina PISTOR (Edwin B. Parker Professor of Comparative Law, Columbia Law School) who will discuss their respective books: Capital and Ideology (Harvard University Press, 2020) and The Code of Capital (Princeton University Press, 2019).

The discussion will be followed by a Q&A with the participants.

If you would like to attend, please register online (link).

Location: Zoom
Time: Monday, December 7th – 5:00 PM

The next webinar in the series will host Thomas PHILIPPON (Stern NYU), Luigi ZINGALES (Chicago) and Lina KHAN (Columbia Law).
