The interdisciplinary workshop on environmental research (AIRE)
The interdisciplinary workshop on environmental research (AIRE) was formed at Sciences Po with support of the Research division in 2018.
Coordinated by Richard Balme, Full professor and researcher at Sciences Po, it gathers about twenty researchers-teachers, research engineers and thirty PhD students of Sciences Po.
Through its seminars, AIRE makes possible to share and disseminate the environmental research carried out at Sciences Po and to cross the disciplines of social sciences and humanities. It aims to engage a reflection on the approaches and the practices of the research dedicated to environmental issues.
Five transversal axes structure this interdisciplinary initiative:
- Crises, environment, disasters;
- Health and environment;
- Territories, democracy and environmental justice;
- Lifestyles, sustainability and ecological transitions;
- Environmental governance
AIRE is also involved in collaborations beyond the SHS, participating in the emergence of a Center for Earth Policy (University of Paris) and taking part in the environmental initiatives of the Alliance program (Columbia University, Paris I, Ecole Polytechnique, Sciences Po).
