Dual Master's Degree with the London School of Economics (LSE)

This two-year programme, built on the complementary approaches of two prestigious members of the Global Public Policy Network (GPPN), combines the study of economics, public administration and management.

It is designed for young professionals who want to gain an expertise in the management and evaluation of public policy in the European context and at the heart of two major European capitals.

  • During their first year in Paris, students are enrolled at Sciences Po, in either the Master in Public Policy or the Master in European Affairs.
  • During their second year, students are enrolled at the LSE. Upon successful completion of the two years, students receive two degrees: a Master's from Sciences Po and a Master's from LSE.

Dual master's degree in Public Policy and Public Administration

Programme

The dual Master’s degree in Public Policy and Public Administration between Sciences Po’s School of Public Affairs and the LSE School of Public Policy aims to equip students with a rounded, multi-disciplinary and applied public policy education that harnesses the best of two world-leading social science institutions

In particular, the first year of the programme at Sciences Po provides students with core skills in economics and politics as well as courses that enable students to complete the requirements of one of eleven policy streams in the area that they choose to specialize in (in English or in French).  Students explore the intersection between public policy and cutting-edge technologies, with an emphasis on a hands-on, concrete approach.

During the second year at LSE, the programme complements this learning with the institutional strengths of the LSE School of Public Policy. The programme aims to equip students with a second area of specialism – either complementary or distinct from – that chosen in the first year. The programme further supplements students’ professional experience through a second year capstone project in which students will work in teams to solve a real-world policy problem. Students are also required to write a Policy Paper or a dissertation in their second year, which enables students to design and conduct independent research in an area of public policy.

Dual master's degree in European Affairs

Programme

The Master in European Affairs offers a broad knowledge of the legal, economic and political foundations of the European Union, as well as of the history and sociology of the European integration project.

During the first year at Sciences Po, students join the Master European Affairs (MAE), and choose their policy stream where they can follow courses only in English or in English and in French.

Students of the dual degree attend a joint seminar providing an introduction to research on European affairs. Its aim is to familiarize students with the scientific literature on politics and governance in the European Union.

Every week students meet scholars of the two universities, Sciences Po and LSE, to discuss about European politics and governance through different perspectives: from political theory to sociology and political science and from economy to law. The participation to these seminars permits to students of the dual degree to prepare themselves for the second year at LSE.

The second year takes place within the European Institute of the LSE and students choose among three different MSc, depending on their interests and their professional project: International Migration and Public PolicyCulture and Conflict in a Global EuropePolitical Economy of Europe or European and International Politics and Policy.

The second year at LSE is composed of three semesters. During the summer semester, students write a Master's thesis on a topic chosen during the school year.
