Christine Binzel

Christine BINZEL is Professor of Economics, with a particular focus on the Middle East and North Africa, at the Institute of Economics of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). She is also a Faculty Fellow at the Association for Analytic Learning about Islam and Muslim Societies, a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), and a Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA). She is a member of the Research Committee on Development Economics of the German Economic Association.

Her research interests are in the fields of development economics, applied microeconomics, and behavioural economics, with a particular focus on the Middle East and North Africa. Her research has been published in leading economic journals, such as The Economic Journal and the Journal of Development Economics. She is regularly invited to work as a consultant by international organisations and research institutions.
