Gerard van den Berg

Gerard VAN DEN BERG is Professor of Health Econometrics at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of the University of Groningen. He is also Professor at the Department of Epidemiology of the University Medical Center Groningen. He is an Affiliated Professor at the Department of Economics and Population Health Science of the University of Bristol and at J-PAL. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society, a Member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and Member of the Scientific Supervisory Board of the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) of the Federal Employment Agency (BA) of Germany. Program Coordinator of the Evaluation of Labor Market Programs for IZA, a CEPR Research Fellow, a Research Associate at ZEW. 

His research focuses on econometrics, economics (general), and medicine (research and experimental). He is well-known for his research on the long-run effects of conditions very early in life (economic condition, nutrition, stress exposure, and so on) on cognition, health and economic productivity later in life.
