Portrait of Naoki Aizawa

Naoki Aizawa is Associate Professor of Economics at University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW). He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), a Faculty Affiliate of UW's Institute for Research on Poverty, Center for Demography of Health and Aging, and Center for Financial Security Research. Among his editorial duties, he is Associate Editor at the Journal of Labor Economics.

His primary fields of research are public economics, health economics, and labour economics. He is particularly interested in the Interaction of social insurance and the labour market as well as insurance market design and
regulation. Published in the top-tier general and specialised journals, his work regularly receives the support from UW. He is also the recipient of a number of prizes - he won notably the 2021 Best Paper Award of the Econometric Society (prize awarded to the best paper in Quantitative Economics published in the past two years).
