Mark Colas is Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Oregon since 2018, currently on sabbatical leave at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Prior to joining the University of Oregon he was a Visiting Scholar at the Opportunity and Inclusive Growth Institute of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. He is also a Research Economist at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and an Affiliate Member of the Center for Economic Studies and Ifo Institute (CESifo).
His research interests are in labour economics and public economics. Both his research and his teaching have been recognised: he was the recipient of the University of Oregon's 2018 New Junior Faculty Research Award and in 2020, he was awarded an important National Science Foundation (NSF) Grant with Chao Fu for their 3-year project Teacher Effectiveness and Policy Designs on Teachers' Labor Market.
He will present a paper, joint with Emmett Reynier, at the next Structural Seminar on the topic:
