Bruno Conte Leite is Assistant Professor at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and an Affiliated Professor at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE) since 2024. Prior to joining UPF, he taught for two years at the Università di Bologna. He is also a Research Fellow at CESifo. In addition to his faculty appointments he has also done consultant work at The World Bank, at the United Nations Commission for Africa (UNECA), and at the International Growth Centre (LSE).
His research interests include International Trade, Economic Geography, Environmental and Development Economics. He studies questions in environmental and development economics using tools from spatial economics and international trade. In 2021 he was the laureate of the CESifo Distinguished Research Affiliate Prize in Energy and Climate Economics. And in 2024, he was awarded an EU Horizon MSCA Marie Curie Fellowship for his two-year project Spatial Policies for the Environment and Equal Development (SPEED).
He will present a paper, joint with José-Luis Cruz, Klaus Desmet, and Esteban Rossi-Hansberg, at the next Structural Seminar on the topic:
