Portrait of Anna Russo

Anna Russo is a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows. She will begin as Assistant Professor of Economics and Social Studies at Harvard in 2026. She received a PhD in Economics from MIT in 2024.

In her research, she studies the design of government intervention in markets, with a focus on environmental regulation and market design. Although very early on in her academic career, her work is very promising and recognised. She was the recipient of the 2025 American Society of Health Economists (ASHEcon) Student Paper Award and of the 2023 Urban Economics Association Best Student Paper Award. She has received support from the John and Kiendl Gordan Economics Support Fund in 2025 and was an MIT Martin Fellow for Sustainability in 2023 while completing her PhD. She was selected to participate in the 2024 China Star Tour and the 2024 Review of Economic Studies Tour.
