Portrait of Clemens Puppe

Clemens Puppe is Full Professor and the Chair of Economic Theory at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).  He is also Director of the Institute of Economics and, since 2023, the Dean of Studies ‘Digital Economics' at the Department of Economics and Business Engineering at KIT. Among his editorial duties, he is currently a member of the Editorial Board of Economics and Philosophy.

His research focuses on topics in microeconomic theory, especially decision theory and social choice theory. In either area, he is interested both in normative questions and in issues related to behavioural analysis. His work is recognised at both international and national levels. He has been distinguished a number of times as a visiting scholar in universities from around the world and is co-editor of the “Handbook for Rational and Social Choice” for Oxford University Press. He was a Principal Investigator from 2021 to 2026 of KD2School - Designing Biosignal-Adaptive Systems for Decision-Making, an interdisciplinary research training group funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
