Portrait of Yuan Zi

Yuan Zi is Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the Geneva Graduate Institute (IHEID Geneva) since 2021. Prior to that she was Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Oslo, a senior researcher at University of Zurich, and a visiting scholar with the Department of Economics at MIT. She is also a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). Among her editorial duties she serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Economic Geography and as Associate Editor of the China Economic Review.

She is an applied economist and her research focuses on international trade, economic geography and production networks. She publishes regularly in the top-tier international journals, notably the Journal of International Economics and the Review of Economics and Statistics
