Paris Trade Seminar with Rocco Macchiavello (LSE)

Rocco Macchiavello is Professor of Managerial Economics & Strategy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He is also a Research Affiliate of the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD), of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), and  of Innovations for Poverty (IPA). He acts as Lead Academic for the International Growth Centre (IGC) – Myanmar Country Programme.

His research interests lie at the intersection of development, organisational and industrial economics. He explores relational contracts both within organizations (e.g., affecting issues such as gender disparities and knowledge transmission in the Global South, or violence across prisons) — and between organisations (with applications to resilience and sustainability in global value chains, collusive practices, organized crime, and money laundering). He recently completed a project Sharing Gains from Trade: Global Markets and Farmers Welfare in Developing Countries that received a significant European Research Council consolidator grant and is the Principal Investigator for the Agri-SME Evidence Fund, a partnership between IGC and Aceli Africa targeted to understand the mechanisms and impact of the flow of catalytic capital to agri-SMEs to improve livelihoods and environmental performance.
