Portrait of Sophie Hatte

Sophie Hatte is Associate Professor and Deputy Director of the Department of Economics at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (ENS Lyon). She is also a Research Fellow at the Center for Economic Research on Governance, Inequality and Conflict (CERGIC) and affiliated to the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) Media Plurality RPN. 

Her research interests are in political economy, development, and public economics, with a focus on news disclosure and its effect on behaviour. Her work has been published in the Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Development Economics, World Bank Economic Review and other academic journals. In 2022 she was awarded a JCJC Agence nationale de la recherche (ANR) grant for her 4-year project Disruptive effects of social media: politics, collective action and the economy (DISRUPT).
