Portrait of Sascha Becker

Sascha Becker is Professor of Economics at the University of Warwick and the Xiaokai Yang Chair of Business and Economics at Monash University. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society, of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS), of the International Economic Association, and of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia (FASSA). Among his editorial duties, he is Editor of the Economic Journal, a member of the Board of Editors of the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, an Editorial Board member of the Journal of Economic History, of the Australian Economic History Review, and of the Italian Economic Journal, and an Associate Editor of the Quarterly Journal of Economics, of the Journal of the European Economic Association, and of the Journal of Economic Growth.

Sascha’s research interests lie in economic history, with his work in recent years focusing on forced migration, genocides, the legacy of the Hapsburg Empire, and the persecution of Jewish academics in Nazi Germany and Italy.
