Portrait of Tim Christensen

Timothy Christensen is Professor of Economics at Yale University since 2024. Before joining Yale, he was a Professor of Economics at University College London (UCL). He is also an affiliated Researcher at the Cowles Foundation. Among his editorial duties, he is Co-Editor of Econometric Theory, and an Associate Editor of Quantitative Economics, the Journal of Econometrics, the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, and the Journal of Econometric Methods.

His research interests lie broadly across theoretical and applied econometrics, financial econometrics, and statistics/data science. His most recent research is at the intersection of econometrics and machine learning, where he works on the integration of unstructured data into quantitative economic modelling. He has been awarded grants by the National Science Foundation and the European Research Council. In 2024, he was elected Fellow of the International Association for Applied Econometrics.
