Benjamin Moll is Professor and the Sir John Hicks Chair of Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He is also a Fellow of the Econometric Society since 2021, a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), an Affiliate of the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD), and a Researcher in the Research Department of Statistics Norway. He is co-editor of the American Economic Review since 2024. He is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW), a Member of the Yermak-McFaul Expert Group on Russian Sanctions since 2022, and sits on the Council of the European Economic Association since 2021.
He is a macroeconomist studying how the enormous heterogeneity observed at the micro level, and in particular the large disparities in income and wealth, impact the macro economy and macroeconomic policy. Published regularly in the top tier economic international journals, Ben Moll was awarded in 2025 a prestigious European Research Council (ERC) “Advanced” grant for his project Pushing the Frontier of Heterogeneous Agent Macro: Expectations Formation and Economic Crises. He also is the recipient of an impressive list of prizes - notably the 2024 Calvó-Armengol International Prize in Economics, the 2024 Carl Menger Award (Verein für Socialpolitik), the 2024 WFA NASDAQ Award for the Best Paper on Asset Pricing for “Asset-Price Redistribution”, the 2022 Banque de France TSE Prize in Monetary Economics and Finance, the 2019 Leverhulme Prize, and the Bernácer Prize for best European economist under 40 working in macroeconomics and finance (2018).
