Portrait of Alessandra Peter

Alessandra Peter is Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at New York University (NYU) since 2021. She is also a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), and a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). Last year, she was a Visiting Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research.

She is a macroeconomist working on firms both in developing countries, and in Europe and the US. In the context of development, she is particularly interested in understanding constraints to firm growth. In 2019 she was recipient of the European Economic Association Young Economist Award (joint with Cian Ruane).
