Portrait of Nicolas Werquin

Nicolas Werquin is a Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (Chicago Fed).  He is also a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and of the CESifo. Before joining the Chicago Fed in 2021, he was an Assistant Professor at the Toulouse School of Economics (TSE). He received his PhD in Economics from Yale University.

His research focuses on inequality and fiscal policy, and examines the optimal design and the political economy of redistributive tax systems. His work has been published in academic journals such as Econometrica and the American Economic Review. He was the laureate of the 2016 CESifo Distinguished Affiliate Award in Public Economics.
