Simon Jäger is Associate Professor of Economics and Public Affairs, jointly appointed by Princeton University’s Department of Economics and the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA). He is also a member of Princeton’s Industrial Relations Section. Prior to joining Princeton, he was Associate Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is also a Research Fellow of the Rockwool Foundation Berlin, of the Institute for Employment Research (IAB), of the IZA Institute of Labor Economics, and of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), a Senior Fellow of Zentrum für neue Sozialpolitik, a Research Affiliate of the MIT Shaping the Future of Work Initiative, of the CESifo Research Network, and of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), a Fellow at WZB Social Science Center, and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).
His work focuses on labour markets and explores the origins and consequences of inequality. His research has been distinguished many times - he is, notably, a recipient of a Sloan Research Fellowship and of the German Economic Association’s Gustav Stolper Award.
