Portrait of Rohan Kekre

Rohan Kekre is Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is also a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).

His research interests are in open- and closed-economy macroeconomics and finance.  Among other topics, he has studied the global demand for safe assets; the drivers of exchange rates; and the transmission of monetary policy through risk premia in financial markets.  His papers have been published in leading journals such as American Economic Review, Econometrica, and Review of Economic Studies. In 2024 he was the recipient of the SCOR-PSE Junior Research Prize for his paper The Flight to Safety and International Risk Sharing. He has also been awarded important National Science Foundation (NSF) grants - most recently for his project with Moritz Lenel on Understanding the Drivers of Exchange Rates through International Asset Prices and Capital Flows.
