Portrait of Michael Thaler

Michael Thaler is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at University College London (UCL) since 2022. Prior to joining UCL, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University. He holds a PhD in Business Economics from Harvard University. He is also an Affiliate at CESifo. Among his editorial activities, he is an Associate Editor of the Journal of the European Economic Association.

His research is in behavioural economics, experimental economics, and political economy. He is particularly interested in belief updating, communication, and political polarization.
