Portrait of Arna Olafsson

Arna Olafsson is Associate Professor of Finance at Copenhagen Business School (CBS). She is also a Member of CBS' Big Data in Finance Center, a Research Fellow at the Danish Finance Institute, a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), and a CEPR Household Finance Network Member, and a Research Fellow at the Pension Research Centre (PeRCent) at CBS. She sits on the Icelandic Fiscal Policy Council, in charge of evaluating the government’s fiscal policy.  

Her main areas of research are household finance, financial intermediation, behavioural finance, sustainable finance, and labour and finance. A unifying theme in her research is the application of detailed individual-level panel data to answer important questions regarding the financial lives of individuals and households and how their decisions can affect individual's and society's welfare.  She was recently awarded a European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant for her project Gender in Finance, which begins this summer.
