Michela Carlana is Associate Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) and a Visiting Associate Professor of Economics at Bocconi University where she is the Director of the Laboratory for Effective Anti-Poverty Policies (LEAP) and Visiting Fellow of IGIER-Bocconi. She is also a Faculty Research Fellow of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), a Faculty Affiliate of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), and a Research Affiliate of the Institute for Labor Economics (IZA), CESifo Research Network, and of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). She is also affiliated with the Malcolm Wiener Center for Social Policy, the Women in Public Policy Program, and the Center for International Development at HKS.
She works on topics related to inequality and education, with a focus on gender and immigration. She publishes regularly in the top-tier international journals such as the Quarterly Journal of Economics, Econometrica, the AEA Papers and Proceedings, and the American Economic Review.
She will present a paper at the next Applied Microeconomics Seminar on the topic:
