Jeffrey Ely

Jeffrey ELY is the Charles E. and Emma H. Morrison Professor of Economics and Director of the Program in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences at Northwestern University. He is an elected Fellow of the Econometric Society and is currently the monograph series Editor for the Econometric Society. He serves on the editorial boards of Econometrica and Theoretical Economics, an open-access journal on economic theory he co-founded. With economics professor Sandeep BALIGA, Jeffrey ELY writes “Cheap Talk,” an economics and politics blog.

He conducts research on microeconomic theory, with a focus on mechanism design, the foundations of game theory, and evolution. He has received numerous awards including multiple National Science Foundation (NSF) grants and a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation
