Banu Demir PAKEL is Assistant Professor of Economics at Bilkent University. She is also a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), and an Affiliate of the CESifo Research Network. She holds editorial responsibilities at the Journal of International Trade and Economic Development. Priori to joining Bilkent, she was a Research Analyst at the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Unit of the World Bank in and before that, a Research Associate of the Economic Policy Research Institute, in Ankara.

Her research interests lie in International Trade, Trade Finance, Multinational Firms. In 2020 she was awarded the Science Academy’s Young Scientist Award.
