Katja Seim

Katja SEIM is a Professor of Economics at Yale University with joint appointments in the School of Management and in the Department of Economics. She is also a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and at the Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation. In the 2016, she served as Chief Economist at the Federal Communications Commission for a year. Among her editorial activities, she is a Co-Editor of the RAND Journal of Economics.

Her research focuses on topics of industrial organisation and applied microeconomics. She studies how firms respond to public policies, including entry and technology deployment regulations, competition policy, and tax policy in their entry, product positioning, and pricing choices. Her work also evaluates the role of market power in affecting efficiency and distributional outcomes of government auctions to procure goods and services and sell assets.
