Biography

Xavier RAGOT, CNRS Director and Professor at the Department, is currently President of OFCE (Research Centre of Sciences Po), an independent institute dedicated to economic research and forecasting. His research focuses on monetary and financial macroeconomic issues, European issues and heterogeneous agents. He has published in French and international economic journal, his last book Civiliser le capitalisme was published by Fayard in 2019.

He has also been chief economist at the Agency for Industrial Innovation from 2007 to 2008, Senior Economist at the Banque de France from 2008 to 2011, and economic advisor of the Ministry of Economics from 2012 to 2013. He is member of the Conseil d'analyse économique of the Prime Minister since 2014 and is a member of the Franco-German Council of Economic Experts since 2019. He is also member of various councils (CNP, COE).

Xavier Ragot was born on 29 April 1973 in Bayonne. He graduated from Polytechnique (1993); he completed a thesis at EHESS (1996-1997) and undertook a post-doc at MIT (2001-2002).

In 2019, he received from the French Government, the distinction of Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite.
