Biography
Sebastian Dyrda is Associate Professor (with tenure) at the University of Toronto’s Department of Economics. He joined the University of Toronto (U of T) in 2015 after defending his PhD in Economics at the University of Minnesota.
He is a quantitative, applied macroeconomist interested in macro public finance, firm dynamics, and labour markets. His work focuses on optimal policy design with an emphasis on heterogeneity, on the macroeconomic implications of business taxation through a positive analysis, and on the influence of household and firm heterogeneity on business cycle dynamics. His research also focuses on advancements in numerical methods and software design. Published in both the general and specialized international top-tier economic journals, his work is regularly supported by the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) as well as U of T’s Research and Scholarly Activity Fund.
Professor Dyrda will be visiting with us from June 2nd to June 25th, 2025.
